Unix/Linux 用の BOINC は、自己解凍型のアーカイブとして提供されます。 ダウンロード・ファイル名は以下のようなものです。 
boinc_5.2.13_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh
この種類のクライアントをインストールするには、Unix のコマンドライン・インタフェースになじんでいる必要があります。

対象のファイルをダウンロードした後、 (ダウンロードした後のファイル名を boinc_5.2.13_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh) とします)、以下のように打ち込みます。 

sh boinc_5.2.13_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh
すると、BOINC/ というディレクトリが以下のファイルとともに作成されます。
boinc
BOINC のコア・クライアント
boincmgr
BOINC マネージャ
run_client
前記の BOINC ディレクトリに ワーキングディレクトリを移動し、 コア・クライアントを走らせるという機能のスクリプトです。
run_manager
BOINC ディレクトリに ワーキングディレクトリを移動し、 BOINC マネージャを走らせるスクリプトです。

コア・クライアントには他にいくつもの コマンドライン・オプション が付けられます。 マシンを起動したときに 自動的にコア・クライアントを走らせる ことをしたいと思うかもしれません。

動作中の BOINC クライアントを制御するには、 BOINC コマンド・ツール を使って下さい。
